Michael Des Barres and the Mistakes sign to Die Laughing Records,
set to release new music for a new decade and generation.
LOS ANGELES, CA: “I was born a punk” said Michael Des Barres on a recent video announcement in regards to Die Laughing inking a deal for him and his band, the Mistakes. What better place to release new recordings but on the indie record label Die Laughing Records founded on a punk rock DIY ethic, a label willing to make mistakes and jumping over hurdles with a relentless persistence to bring awareness of their artists all the while working to breaking through the generational, genre and gender gaps.
Front man Michael Des Barres is a timeless individual from the world of rock n roll. The man is a walking encyclopedia of rock n roll, with true battle field stories of rock n roll friendships and achievements in a career that to this point has spanned over 50 years. He is a true entertainer in every sense of that word which includes as working actor, public speaker, radio host and rock singer for several bands (all have epic and relevant historic background). Some people will always remember him as the sunglasses wearing pupil from “To Sir With Love” and some, like the DLR Radio Podcast’s Go, Go, Go Girl, will remember him in red leather pants fronting “Power Station” at 1985’s “Live Aid”. Label CEO, Dave Dalton, remembers him with his band “Silverhead” in 1973, and meeting him briefly in LA, as well as some years later with “Detective” (on Led Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records) at “The Old Waldorf” In 1977. Still others remember the character he created “Murdoc” on the ABC “MacGyver” series, that spanned into the CBS reboot. Die Laughing Records is excited to usher in this new chapter by welcoming Michael and his band “The Mistakes” to the DLR family.
Des Barres and DLR with this collaboration are showcasing Michael and his band “The Mistakes” to a whole new fan base, the “Millennials” if you will. We know the “Hot Topic” era punks will embrace his past works such as "Silverhead" “Chequered Past” and “Detective”, that street punk sound Michael has now perfected with “The Mistakes”. In Michael’s own words, “loud rock n roll music, that’s what we adore, that’s what we love and we make lots of mistakes”. Die Laughing Records is in the process of setting everything up with Michael Des Barres & the Mistakes to release the new EP, “Live At The Hi Hat” in late February 2020.
